If you’re into Easter egg hunts, chocolate and an excuse to pressure loved ones into wearing matching pastel outfits, you might want to keep your schedule free this weekend on Whidbey Island.
Saturday is particularly packed with events and will see the Easter Bunny working overtime as he teleports to different celebrations, posing for photos and bringing some childlike wonder to grown-ups who are emotionally recovering from tax season.
From 10 a.m. to noon, the Soroptimists of Coupeville are hosting an Easter Bunny Trail Scramble at the Island County Historical Museum, where kids can get their faces painted and find candy and prize baskets and adults can try their luck at a raffle. Participants are encouraged to pre-register, with walk-ups admitted at 10:45 a.m. depending on availability. To register, visit coupevillesoroptimist.org.
Oak Harbor ACE Hardware welcomes kids ages 12 and under to a free Easter Egg Hunt with candy and prizes at 10 a.m.
Living Faith Christian Center and Lakeside Bible Camp will be offering a variety of activities from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., including an Easter egg and scavenger hunt, games, face painting, an inflatable obstacle course, a photo booth and hot dogs. The event is free and takes place at Lakeside Bible Camp in Clinton.
For adults wanting to mingle and frolic without children around, Whidbey Farm and Market is hosting an adults-only Easter event from 6 to 10 p.m. Guests can enjoy games, a bonfire, hayrides, music, a meet and greet with the Easter Bunny and potentially win over $500 in prizes. Those wanting to celebrate with their families can bring their kids to the farm’s 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. events Saturday and Sunday, featuring the classic egg hunt as well as a petting area with lambs and baby goats, craft activities, a bouncy house, a giant bubble station, a barrel train, gem mining, a candy cannon, a professional photo shoot and a chance to meet the Easter Bunny in the flesh. Children with disabilities who are ages 10 and under can also join the fun at the Oak Harbor Main Street Association’s sensory-friendly Easter Egg Hunt at 11:30 a.m. in Smith Park. A second hunt will start at 12:30 p.m. and is open to all children ages 1-10 years old. Both events are free and will include the Easter Bunny for photo opportunities. According to Executive Director Cheryl Grehan, there will be about 3,000 eggs waiting to be found.
In Langley, the Easter Bunny has been having fun hiding goose eggs in the field next to The Goose Community Grocer. The store’s Easter Egg Hunt, featuring candy and prizes, opens at 11 a.m. for kids ages 12 and under and, for anyone older (ultra centenarians included), at noon. The Easter Bunny will also pay a visit.
The Clinton Chamber of Commerce will be celebrating with a free Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. at the Thirsty Crab Brewery’s parking lot and field. Until noon, families can pose for photos with the bunny, play with animals brought by Ballydídean Farm Sanctuary and Critters & Co. Pet Rescue and enjoy treats from food trucks while swaying to music brought by DJ Noah.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., community members can support Oak Harbor’s community theater by bringing their loved ones for a $10 professional photo with the Easter Bunny at the Whidbey Playhouse. No registration is needed, and pets are welcome.
While many spend time celebrating Easter Sunday at home, there are still a few opportunities to have fun outside with the community.
From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., visitors can experience the thrills of hunting surrounded by the Meerkerk Gardens’ springtime wonderland, meeting the Easter Bunny for a photo with family, friends and pets. Entry fee is $10 for adults, while children ages 13 and under enter for free. Fancy hats are welcome.
From 1 to 2 p.m., the Deception Pass Golf Center on North Whidbey will host an egg hunt at the mini-golf track, followed by prizes, giveaways and a mini-golf game that is free to kids ages 12 and under. The cost of entry is $10 for kids ages 4-12 and $12 for adults.
