The Oak Harbor Main Street Association invites community members to join its largest fundraiser event.
The “Wine, Bites & Brew!” event will take place 2-5 p.m. this Saturday. After outgrowing its original venue at the Oak Harbor Yacht Club, the celebration is moving to the Oak Harbor Elks Lodge at 155 Northeast Ernst Street, according to Cheryl Grehan.
Grehan, Main Street’s executive director, said the event is meant for people to connect, on top of supporting the organization and future events.
“When you’re breaking bread and sharing food and yummy drinks, it builds community, (it) builds friendships, it builds vulnerability amongst people,” she said. “I feel like there might be some divisiveness going on.”
The feast features bites and samples of wine, beer, mead, cider and liqueur from a variety of Whidbey businesses, plus a silent auction with items from local shops and goodie bags.
The hefty list of participating businesses includes Dancing Fish Vineyards, Hierophant Meadery, Bastion Brewing Company, Wicked Teuton Brewing Company, Whidbey Island Distillery, Barrington’s Irish Bar and Grill, Chef in the Black Bandana, Frasers Gourmet Hideaway, Keto Carb Crave, Kraken’s Cove, Mad Batter Bakehouse, Noe Jose Cafe, Orlando’s Bar + Southern BBQ, Popsies, Riverside Cafe & Lounge Oak Harbor, Soo Berry Good, Sweet Rice Thai Cuisine, Whidbey Island Bagel Factory and more.
Prospective guests can choose between four tickets ranging between $50 and $150: the “designated driver ticket” with 10 tastings but no swag bag or alcohol pours; the general admission ticket, which comes with a commemorative wine glass and bag and 10 tasting tickets; the VIP ticket, which includes the wine glass and bag and 20 tasting tickets; the VIP ticket with the same benefits, plus a shuttle for residents living within city limits.
