The Island Arts Council Poetry Slam is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 at Freeland Cafe.

The organization’s end-of-the-year poetry slam includes free gifts for all in attendance. Participants will create their self-styled poetry on the spot, also using certain words suggested by the audience, according to a Monday press release.

The Conductor of Fun, Jim Freeman, will co-host. The always entertaining Erik Christensen will conclude the evening with spirited song and crowd pleasing anecdotes. As an added bonus, “delicious” restaurant appetizers are free, the release said.
