The children and adult choirs of St. Hubert Church in Langley will present a Festival of Lessons and Carols for Advent this weekend.

The event begins at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, and will be held at the church, 804 Third Street.

The meditative service of readings, hymns and anthems is a time of reflection and renewal for all during a very busy time of the year, according to a recent news release.

Lessons and Carols, as it is informally called, are patterned after the Christmas Eve observance at King’s College in Cambridge, England. It has become an annual holiday tradition for thousands of families in the Puget Sound region, the release said.

The program is free to the public, though an item of non-perishable food for the local food bank will be accepted at the door.
