Whidbey Island Center for the Arts will host its 18th annual Star Gala and Auction entitled “I Believe,” on Saturday, Sept. 6.
Kathryn Stevens, auction co-chair, said the theme will be represented through quotes from directors, actors, artists and other community members regarding what they believe about WICA and why they believe the theater is important to fund.
“We have so many amazing supporters and contributors that keep this community [evolving] with something exciting and new for the benefit of South Whidbey,” she said.
The event features a four-course meal catered by Chef Vincent Nattress of Cultivar Catering along with a live auction held on the Michael Nutt Mainstage at 6:30 p.m.
Auction items range from paintings and sculptures to an hour of flight simulation with Alaska Airlines, tickets to “Dancing with the Stars,” a private concert with Sylvia Bennett and tickets to the Pacific Northwest Ballet’s final performance of “The Nutcracker” and much more.
“We have some really exciting items this year,” said Stevens.
There will also be a special dedication to longtime Whidbey Island Center for the Arts supporter Paul Schell, who died July 27 from heart surgery complications.
A champagne reception and silent action will precede the dinner beginning at 5 p.m. in Zech Hall.
There are 120 tickets available, and according to Stevens, these tend to sell out fast. Admission costs $200 for benefactors, $150 for patrons and $125 for guests.
