Whidbey is a beautiful place to live, and even among those who visit for a short time, the Island tends to leave a lasting mark.
“People stationed at the Naval Air Station get to see the beauty of this place and often come back when it’s time to retire. We’ve welcomed a lot of veterans back over the years,” says Wilma Jo Flaherty, Executive Director of Regency on Whidbey.
Regency on Whidbey offers Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care and Respite Care. Now that Regency-Pacific also owns Regency Coupeville (formerly known as Careage of Whidbey), residents have access to the full spectrum of care.
“The building underwent an extensive renovation, and with Regency-Pacific taking over, we also brought in all the accessory departments that assist us in providing the highest level of care,” says Heather Savala, Administrator for Regency Coupeville.
Regency Coupeville offers Skilled Nursing Care and Rehabilitation, so residents now have access to a continuum of care as needed — as well as an incredibly skilled care team.
“Our Nursing Assistant, Kim, was recently honored with the 2023 Washington Healthcare Association Noble Caregiver of the year award! Kim is outstanding with our residents and goes above and beyond to ensure their care and well-being,” Savala says. “She’s one of many amazing employees on staff here. It’s a family-style operation with the knowledge and security of a high level company.”
Continuum of care, all on Whidbey Island
- Independent Living: Private cottage living, plus one meal each day in the dining room, weekly housekeeping, maintenance and utilities.
- Assisted Living: Designed for people who are still reasonably self-sufficient, but need a higher level of care than Independent Living. Rent a private apartment, and enjoy extra services including medication management, three meals daily, and help with day-to-day activities or travelling to appointments.
- Memory Care: The Moments program seeks to recognize each resident as the person they have always been and continue to be. Regency’s mission is to create an environment where residents experience genuine pleasure, a sense of purpose and peace.
- Respite Care: A short-term temporary residence solution that gives family caregivers a chance to rejuvenate knowing that their loved one is in a comfortable, caring environment.
- Skilled Nursing Care and Rehabilitation: Both acute and long term care is available. Residents of Regency on Whidbey may move temporarily to Regency Coupeville following a hip replacement or while recovering from an illness. Skilled Nursing also includes long term care for those with high care needs requiring around-the-clock care.
Regency on Whidbey and Regency Coupeville have a strong collaborative relationship and are passionate about providing quality care to the community. Together, they’re the only community offering Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Respite Care and Skilled Nursing options, all on Whidbey Island. From dining to social outings to healthcare, staff put their skills, education and heart into a wide range of services.
Award-winning Regency on Whidbey has been named Best Assisted Living for 10 years in a row, and Best Memory Care for the past two years! Just two of many accolades the community has garnered through the years.
