The agenda has again been changed for tonight’s board meeting of commissioners for the South Whidbey Parks and Recreation District, and the meeting will start 30 minutes earlier than previously announced.
The parks meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. with interviews of the two candidates for an upcoming vacancy on the board. Dave Parent will be interviewed first by parks commissioners at 5:30, followed by the interview with Mark Helpenstel at 6 p.m.
Parks commissioners will then close the meeting to the public for an executive session that will center on a discussion of the interviews.
The executive session is expected to end at 7 p.m., and the regular board meeting will commence.
Following a public comment period, the board will vote on the appointment of the new parks commissioner, who will take office following the departure of Linda Kast in September.
The agenda for tonight’s meeting has been changed several times in the past two days, as the parks district had initially said the candidate interviews would be conducted during the executive session.
