Arise announces grant awards

“The Arise Charitable Trust announced recently that during their November 1999 session, education grants totaling $18,300 were awarded to South Whidbey women, and $60,500 was awarded to charitable nonprofit organizations which assist women. The grant awards were made by the allocation committee at its November meeting.The Arise Charitable Trust was established by an anonymous donor in December, 1986, to provide financial assistance to women who wish to meet their full potential in life, but need a helping hand.*Organizational grants were made to:HOPE — Horsemanship Opportunities for Potential Equestrians — for instructional fees and training programs.South Whidbey School District’s middle school program, Girls in Technology.Pregnancy Aid of South Whidbey — supporting pregnant women.Skagit Valley College — to continue the Women in Transition program.South Whidbey Children’s Center– scholarships for children.*Individual scholarships were granted to South Whidbey women for their attendance at college or other accredited learning programs. The following women were recipients: Eleadari Acheson, Denise Buschko, Terry Clark, Katrina Collins, Emily Gaggia, Alicia Gianni, Wendy Hantz, Patricia Licatta, Mary Lint, Sarah Mayer, Marilynn Norby, Susan Roehm, Stephanie Sitko, Donna Stevenson, Melinda Treggett, Dorcas Young. The Arise Charitable Trust considers grant applications twice a year, in May and November. If you have a goal and you are determined to reach it — but you need help, maybe Arise can help you. Women, or organizations supporting women, who would like information and/or grant applications should write to: Arise Charitable Trust, PO Box 1014, Freeland, WA 98249. To have your application considered during the May session, it must be received no later than Saturday, April 1. May 1999 recipients will automatically receive applications in February.The Arise Trust also sponsors a loan program for women in business. The loans provided by Arise must be fully secured.
