Basil Café holds buffet to benefit relief in Haiti

The Friendship Force of Whidbey Island will celebrate World Friendship Day this year by helping with a fundraiser for Haiti at the Basil Café in Bayview.

The Friendship Force of Whidbey Island will celebrate World Friendship Day this year by helping with a fundraiser for Haiti at the Basil Café in Bayview.

Chef Chung Tran, owner and chef of the Basil Café, and his staff will donate their time to prepare and serve a pan-Asian buffet from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 14.

Proceeds will go to Partners in Health, the largest healthcare provider and non-governmental organization in Haiti.

World Friendship Day is celebrated to promote peace and friendship between people of all nations. In early March of every year, Friendship Force clubs around the world make plans to celebrate World Friendship Day.

Friendship Force of Whidbey Island invites the community to join the fun in the celebration of World Friendship while supporting the relief efforts in Haiti.

Service times will be scheduled, and there will be live entertainment by island musicians. The cost for the fundraiser buffet and entertainment is $25 per person ($15 is tax deductible), which will include tea.

All reservations must be made and paid for before March 12. Make a reservation by calling the Basil Café at 321-7898, or drop off your check with the preferred time for dining. Service times are noon, 12:45, 1:30, 2:15, 3, 3:45 and 4:15 p.m.
