Members of the Bayview Farmers Market have agreed to offer a plump cash prize to the winner of this year’s poster contest.

The market held its annual meeting Feb. 6, and the group voted to sponsor this year’s contest — expected to become an annual event — and agreed to offer a $400 cash prize to the winner.

Whidbey artists and graphic designers are invited to use their skills and creativity to help promote the Bayview Farmers Market; the contest to design an 11-by-17-inch poster is open to all Whidbey Island residents 18 and older (except judges and market members and their families).

Rules and an entry form are available at www.bayviewfarmersmarket.com. The deadline for entries is March 23.

Copies of the winning poster will be distributed beginning in April. The 2012 market opens Saturday, April 28.

In other business, members re-elected Shirlee Read as president and elected Loren Imes as treasurer.
