Island 4-H students are the lucky recipients of a new playhouse to raffle off from the South Whidbey Home Builders group.
The builders group is a chapter of Skagit and Island County Builders Association. Each year members build playhouses to donate to different charities. The charities then sell raffle tickets as a fundraiser for the organizations.
This is the home builders group’s third year creating a playhouse. For the past two years WSU/Island County 4-H have been the recipients of the playhouse.
Last year, the 4-H group raised more than $4,000 from selling raffle tickets. The funds were matched by Island Thrift and the group raised more than $8,000 from the playhouse.
This year the 4-H group hopes to raise $5,000 from the raffle, with no matching grant.
The playhouses were displayed at the SICBA Home and Garden Show at the Skagit County Fairgrounds where the raffle was held.
