Burn restrictions lifted in Island County

County officials said the ban was no longer necessary due to increased moisture levels. The ban ends at 8 a.m. Oct. 1.

The permanent prohibition against outdoor burning will remain in place for the cities of Langley, Coupeville, Oak Harbor and those cities’ urban growth areas. The ongoing ban also includes the Freeland area.

Residents in unincorporated areas where open burning is allowed must call 360-391-0392 to obtain a burn permit. Fires less than 4 feet in diameter do not require a burn permit; fires more than 4 feet in diameter require a written burn permit.

Burn barrels, and burning garbage, is prohibited.
