Filing period for candidates planning to run for election this year is May 13 to 17 at the Island County Auditor’s Office.
All local jurisdictions will have offices on the ballot.
For South Whidbey, open positions and who presently holds them follow:
Langley: Mayor Fred McCarthy, council members Rene Neff, Hal Seligson and Doug Allderdice.
Port of South Whidbey: Seat held by Curt Gordon.
South Whidbey School Board: Seats held by Fred O’Neal and Jill Engstrom.
South Whidbey Fire/EMS: Seat held by Kenon Simmons.
South Whidbey Parks and Recreation: Seats held by Mark Helpenstell, Jim Porter and Matthew Simmons.
Bayview Beach Water: Seats held by Wilbur Cochran, Leroy Pool and Jim Forsyth.
Clinton Water: Seat held by Roy Simmons.
Holmes Harbor Water: Seats held by Tom White and Margaret Winngard.
Freeland Water and Sewer: Seat held by Marilyn Abrahamson.
Lagoon Point Water: Seats held by Robert Vondrachek and Robert Rogers.
Saratoga Water: Seat held by Roy Bingman.
Whidbey Island Public Hospital District: Seats held by Ron Wallin and Roger Case.
Candidates may file electronically, by U.S. mail or in person at the Elections Office in Coupeville. All candidate filings and applicable fees must be received no later than Friday, May 17 at 4 p.m. in the Island County Elections Office, according to Auditor Sheilah Crider.
The Island County Elections Office will be open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A computer will be provided in the Elections Office for candidates to use to file for office. If a candidate needs help with electronic filing, staff will provide assistance.

To file electronically, go to www.islandcounty.net, select “Elections” in the green menu bar at the top of the page and follow the prompts for online filing. Candidates should retain a copy of their online filing on their computer.
