With the primary election now almost past, more than a half million dollars has been spent on campaigns in Island County and the 10th Legislative District.

According to the Public Disclosure Commission, the state’s watchdog on campaign finances, a total of $544,824 has been spent in local campaigns.

Candidates in Island County and the 10th Legislative District raised $830,126 before the primary, and the campaigns reported $285,302 in unspent donations through Tuesday.

Several incumbents may head into the general election with plenty left in their campaign coffers, however.

Haugen has raised $163,777 through Tuesday, and reported remaining contributions of $81,338. That’s almost double what her Republican opponent reported. Haddon currently has $43,017 in available contributions.

Haddon’s campaign has been aided by ample support from in-kind donations, which have totaled almost half — $50,973 — of her total contributions.

Much of that support has come from state Republicans seeking to turn out the longtime incumbent.

Haddon’s campaign received $45,867 from the Senate Republican Campaign Committee in July, and the in-kind contributions included thousands for pamphlets, signs, consultants and salaries.

By comparison, Haugen has received in-kind donations so far of $2,301.

In the race for the Position 2 House seat in District 10, Terry has spent all but $2,816 of her total contributions of $65,431.

McDonald, her fellow Democrat in the race, reported remaining contributions of $295; she raised $29,405 in the race through Tuesday.

Bailey, the incumbent, has $37,747 remaining from a total of $107,834 raised so far.

In the Island County commissioner District 1 race, Price Johnson exits the primary with remaining contributions of $22,746 out of $50,112 raised through the primary.

Bakke has $8,345 remaining in his war chest from total contributions of $39,636 through Tuesday.

Gordon has $1,651 remaining, and Rose, $1,494, according to the Public Disclosure Commission.
