Journey reveals unexpected lessons
Richard Burdsal will deliver the Unity of Whidbey service on Sunday, assisted by guest musicians Janet and Narayan Baltzo’s group, “You’re Loved.”
Burdsal calls his talk “Intention on the Road.” He will be exploring the perspectives of a traveler setting out with certain goals in mind who then discovers new and important lessons of “Unity” unexpectedly emerging.
Services are held at Bayview Community Hall at 10 a.m. Sunday and all are welcome.

Sermon is based on Genesis
Darrel Wenzek will again be speaking tomorrow at South Whidbey Community Church with the topic, “God Created,” based on Genesis 1:1-2:3.
Wenzek has researched the Biblical basis for creation over current evolutionary theory, and will preach on the results of his study. He is a regular speaker at SWCC, a former pastor of Evengelical Free churches, and holds a Master of Divinity Degree from Western Theological Seminary in Portland, Ore.
On Sunday, Aug. 24, there will be a church potluck following the service, and Roger Burkhart will be sharing about his recent trip to Israel.
South Whidbey Community Church intentionally enjoys a wide variety of gifted and educated speakers at each Sunday morning worship service. Both the church and all its speakers adhere to the National Association of Evangelicals Statement of Faith.
Each worship service begins at 10 a.m. and is preceded at 9 a.m. by two adult learning forums: one is a discussion of the Book of Romans, led by Stan Walker; the other a study of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, led by Jim Craft. And midweek Bible studies continue in the Gospel of Luke, at 7 p.m. Wednesdays, led by Art Angst at Rick and Dinah Zapata’s home.
South Whidbey Community Church is open to everyone and gathers for worship each Sunday at the Deer Lagoon Grange, 5142 Bayview Road, Langley.

‘Soul’ is the topic at Sunday service
During the Christian Science healing service this Sunday, the topic will be “Soul,” meaning God, the Soul of all people, the source of our dominion.
“And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.” (Matthew 14:14)
Everyone is welcome. The service begins at 10:30 a.m. at 2411 E. Highway 525 (across from Useless Bay Road) on South Whidbey.
