A drop in the expected amount of sales tax revenues and hotel-motel taxes will prompt a revision to Langley’s 2009 budget.

Clerk-Treasurer Debbie Mahler told council members at their meeting earlier this week that sales tax revenues had totaled more than $50,000 less than what had been budgeted for last year.

Hotel-motel taxes have also dropped dramatically, and now are at the level last seen in 2004.

“It’s the first time that’s ever gone down,” Mahler said.

The council is expected to revise last year’s spending plan at an upcoming meeting.
