Ready for sausage, suds and polka?

Hearty, home-cooked food and home-brewed froth beckon Whidbey Islanders to the Clinton Progressive Association’s second annual Oktober Fest this weekend. The celebration is from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Clinton Community Hall, at Highway 525 and Humphrey Road.

Local chef Sheila Seebree will cook a Bavarian feast, featuring authentic grilled kielbasa and Nurenberger sausages served on crusty Brötchen, with sides of German potato salad and sauteed red cabbage and apples spiked with caraway seeds. Beer and wine will be sold.

Providing oom-pah-pah for dancing the polka will be the Pickled Herring Band’s accordionist Lori Hansen, joined by Bruce Anderberg and Jim Neverman.

Tickets for adults are $15 at the door, and $12 in advance. Children’s tickets are $6 each. Members of the Clinton Progressive Association may buy tickets in advance or at the door for $12. Purchase advance tickets at the Clinton branches of Wells Fargo and Whidbey Island Banks, or at Lynae’s Island Framery.

Proceeds from Oktober Fest pay for maintenance of the Community Hall.
