Western Washington University student Frederick Helpenstell, son of Mark Helpenstell and Kim Allen of Clinton, received a $1,250 Lars and Elaine Giusti Scholarship for Business for the 2009-10 academic year.

The Lars and Elaine Giusti Scholarship for Business is awarded to a student of the College of Business and Economics who is a U.S. citizen and Washington-state resident with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or better and has financial need. Consideration is also taken for a demonstration of a student’s passions and leadership potential for the field of business through participation in internships, leadership lunches or related work experience.

Helpenstell, a senior at WWU, is majoring in international business and has earned a 3.65 GPA. He is planning to graduate this spring. Helpenstell received scholastic honors from Beta Gamma Sigma, and his extracurricular activities include painting and construction.

Helpenstell’s professional goals include work in the robotics industry.
