A free forum on water issues affecting wells and septic systems in Clinton and other areas of South Whidbey will be held in March.

The forum, sponsored by the Clinton Progressive Association, will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 13, at Clinton Community Hall at Highway 525 and Central Avenue.

The forum also will focus on the state of South Whidbey’s groundwater, and the effects of pollution on personal and environmental health.

Practical tips will be available from presentations, workshops, displays and discussions with local and regional water-quality practitioners.

There will be eight speakers, and displays and information from Island County Environmental Health, Orca Network, People for Puget Sound, Service Education and Adventure (SEA), South Whidbey Tilth, Transition Whidbey, Whidbey Island Conservation District, Whidbey Watershed Stewards and other organizations.

“Water is the basis of all life,” said forum organizer Carol Flax. “We are surrounded by it here on Whidbey Island. We cannot survive without it.”

Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. Space is limited. Lunch is available for $16, with profits going to Whidbey Island Nourishes.

Registration forms are available at local libraries and on the CPA Web site, http://clintoncommunityhall.org.
