Army Sgt. 1st Class Christopher D. Smith has arrived in Balad, Iraq, to support the mission of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The soldier is assigned to the 56th Multifunctional Medical Battalion.

Smith, a senior human resource supervisor, has served in the military for 23 years. He is the son of Charlotte Carpenter of Clinton.
