Three commissioners will vote to approve South Whidbey Fire/EMS’s $3.1 million budget tonight at a special meeting.
The budget must be submitted to Island County by Nov. 29. The emergency response district’s coffers were padded a bit when voters approved a 15-cent levy lift in November. South Whidbey residents will pay 76 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value for fire and emergency medical services from the six fire stations on South Whidbey.
Commissioners are expected to discuss about $400,000 of possible maintenance improvements, which may or may not be approved. The draft budget will be the seventh revision.
The meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Freeland station, located at 5535 Cameron Road.
