Just days after cleaning up in the primary election, U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen will be making rounds on South Whidbey Friday, visiting constituents and businesses.

The Second District Democrat’s first scheduled stop is at Whidbey Telecom. According to a recent news release, the congressman will spend one hour, from 10-11 a.m. discussing internet connectivity improvements at South End schools.

From there Larsen will head to Double R Rentals & Sales, from 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in Bayview to “learn about the operations of this local business, as well as some of its successes and concerns,” the release said.

Last on the list is a stop at Kids Café, from 12:30-1:30 p.m., in Langley. The program works to feed children for free during the summer months. Good Cheer Food Bank operates the program every weekday in Langley and Spin Café is running the program from Flintstone Park in Oak Harbor.

Larsen introduced the Summer Meals Act earlier this year to improve communities’ ability to serve nutritious meals to kids. The stop was scheduled so he could see firsthand the impact of the federal funding, the news release said.

Larsen is seeking reelection this November and will face Republican challenger B.J. Guillot. They were the top two candidates in Tuesday’s primary election.

Larsen took 52.51 percent of the vote and Guillot 36.35 percent. Independent candidate Mike Lapointe was knocked out of the running with 11.14 percent of the vote.
