Construction of new Langley fire station is ahead of schedule

New station expected to open in September.

The construction crew on Camano Avenue has given Fire District 3 a little breathing room.

Workers from Advanced Construction Inc., the company that was hired to build the combination fire station and park-and-ride lot, have worked so fast they are ahead of schedule, district officials said.

“It’s just a little bit ahead of schedule,” said Fire Chief Dan Stout said. “We’re moving along at a good pace.”

Despite the speedy work, Stout still anticipates a September grand opening.

“We’re still targeting mid-September for the opening, because you don’t know what could happen,” he said. “Everything seems to going well, real smooth.”

The $1.4 million project includes a 4,500-square-foot fire station and 70 parking spots for the park-and-ride. The complex is comprised of a total of 2.72 acres, with 1.43 acres to be set aside to enhance a wetland buffer.
