Students and parents took a bite into fundraising Wednesday, Oct. 16 selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

The South Whidbey High School Parent Teacher Student Association raised $893 from selling 125 boxes of the famed doughnut. A box of 12 doughnuts sold for $12 or $1.25 for singles.

Money raised will go to staff grants, student scholarships and to support staff during appreciation days.

This is the first time the group has sold Krispy Kreme doughnuts in more than 10 years. The association hopes to carry on the effort with two additional sales later this year.

“The more successful we are the more we can help students,” said Shelly Ackerman, president of the association.
