LANGLEY — Police are looking for the driver of a silver-greenish Toyota, likely an SUV, who fled the scene following a collision with a 1995 Chevy pick-up truck last week.
John Potter of Freeland was driving home on Highway 525 in the 2400 block Tuesday afternoon when a southbound driver crossed the yellow line and barreled right at him.
Potter swerved to avoid the accident but the mirrors of the two vehicles smashed into each other, sending glass shards inside Potter’s cab. The flying glass hit Potter in the face, cutting him.
“I saw him coming. Luckily, I turned out of the way quick enough and pulled off the road,” Potter said.
“They just kept on going. So they are driving without a mirror, too,” he said.
Fire District 3 personnel responded to the call and treated Potter’s injuries, which included several minor cuts and abrasions.
“I got here and one car was here and the other fled the scene,” Deputy Fire Chief Mike Cotton said. “The medics are treating this guy and he’s probably going to be going home. It could have been a lot worse.”
Police are investigating the collision and are looking for the other driver.
