Future development in a portion of Edgewood will likely stay small.

The area stretches from Decker Avenue/Street east to where Edgecliff Drive becomes Wateredge Drive. It was previously zoned at three units per acre with a provision that if a sewer line was added, it could increase to six units per acre.

Langley’s planning advisory board recommended that the city council limit its growth to remain three units per acre, even if a sewer is added in that area.

Three written comments were submitted for the public hearing on the rezoning meeting Aug. 7, and each supported the change.

“It was pretty unanimous,” said Jeff Arango, Langley’s planning director.

The advisory board voted 4-1 to send the recommendation to the city council for final approval. Only Dominque Emerson objected.

The change will not affect the Langley Passage project which was already approved by the city council.
