The South Whidbey School District has experienced an unusual increase in enrollment since the beginning of the year, according to Dan Poolman, assistant superintendent of business.
The district gained eight new students in February, at a time when Poolman said enrollment usually decreases.
Poolman made the announcement at a regular school board business meeting Wednesday, March 25.
The total number of students has steadily decreased throughout the past several years, with a drop from an average of 1,894 students in the 2006/07 school year to an average of 1,382 in the 2013/14 school year.
As of March, 2015, there were 1,370 average students enrolled.
