The number of ferry sailings between Clinton and the mainland will be cut by more than half during the three-weekend closure of the Mukilteo ferry terminal in March and April, officials with Washington State Ferries announced today.
The Mukilteo terminal will be shut down for renovations on Fridays through Sundays on March 18-20, March 25-27 and April 1-3.
Ferry sailings will be shifted from Mukilteo to Edmonds during the closure. The longer sailing time — an approximately 50-minute crossing time between Clinton and Edmonds — will mean fewer sailings during the closure weekends. There will be 17 sailings on Fridays, and 16 on Saturdays and Sundays, compared to the 37 and 35 sailings on the normal schedule for the Clinton-Mukilteo route.
Ferry officials said travelers should begin planning alternative travel arrangements.
Officials said the repair work at the Mukilteo terminal includes replacing mechanical and electrical systems that operate the transfer span and apron that link the dock with mooring ferries.

Washington State Ferries will also distribute copies of the Clinton-Edmonds schedule and laminated Clinton dashboard signs at ferry terminals in February.
