A 39-year-old Freeland man is facing charges for allegedly assaulting two women and threatening to kill people outside of the Hong Kong Gardens in Clinton last month, according to court documents.
Prosecutors charged Christopher F. Campbell in Island County Superior Court Aug. 21 with three counts of felony harassment and two counts of assault in the fourth degree.
Campbell posted $10,000 bail Aug. 13. He could face up to a year in jail if convicted of the charges.
One of the alleged victims reported that Campbell had been disorderly inside the restaurant and tried to pick fights with people. The man said that Campbell later approached him in the parking lot and “tried to provoke him to exit his car and fight,” according to the report by Deputy Darren Crownover with the Island County Sheriff’s Office.
Two women got out of a car and started arguing with Campbell. Campbell allegedly threatened to kill the two women and the man, saying that he had a gun in his truck, the report states.
Campbell’s girlfriend joined him and started fighting with one of the women. Campbell pushed one woman to the ground and kicked her, then punched another woman in the face, causing her to bleed badly, the report states.
Campbell’s girlfriend claimed he had defended her when the two women attacked her, the report states.
Crownover noted that Campbell had “a strong odor of intoxicants” and tried to provoke him into fighting.
