The Friends of Friends Medical Support Fund board met to plan for 2012 at its annual meeting Jan. 21. The nonprofit welcomed new board members — most significantly, the reigning Mr. South Whidbey, Don Denman. Kelly Keith joins Denman as a new volunteer member on the board.

At the annual meeting, volunteers reported that 91 percent of the funds raised by Friends of Friends in 2011 was used to pay for medical-related expenses for 219 South Whidbey residents.

Funds are raised locally; a sterling testament to the generosity of the South Whidbey community.

Friends of Friends also announced the Mr. South Whidbey Pageant will be back next year, and will be held Oct. 6.
