Gov. Gregoire to talk about campaign during private visit to Whidbey next week

Gov. Christine Gregoire's campaign announced today the governor will make a stop on Whidbey Island the day before a series of public appearances in Langley and Coupeville. Gregoire will attend a private reception hosted by the Whidbey Island Democratic Club on Sunday, July 20. She will talk about her reelection campaign with members of the club, party activists, precinct committee officers and other elected officials, and candidates in the upcoming election.

Gov. Christine Gregoire’s campaign announced today the governor will make a stop on Whidbey Island the day before a series of public appearances in Langley and Coupeville.

Gregoire will attend a private reception hosted by the Whidbey Island Democratic Club on Sunday, July 20. She will talk about her reelection campaign with members of the club, party activists, precinct committee officers and other elected officials, and candidates in the upcoming election.

The invitation-only event will be held at the home of Trudy Sundberg, a founder of the Whidbey Island Democratic Club and a longtime Democratic Party supporter.

Gregoire is also scheduled to attend a luncheon sponsored by the Island County Economic Development Council at 11:30 p.m. Monday, July 21 at Coupeville High School. The governor will visit Langley for a campaign rally at 2 p.m. the same day, which will be followed by a walk along First Street to meet with merchants.

The governor’s opponent in the November election, Republican Dino Rossi, will also visit Whidbey Island this month.

Rossi will attend a fundraising luncheon to support 10th District lawmaker Norma Smith at noon Tuesday, July 15 at the Whidbey Golf and Country Club in Oak Harbor.
