How do “Barns” affect you or your thoughts? Here is an opportunity to express yourself in the statewide Grange-sponsored Creative Writing Contest for 2015.

The contest is about writing on the subject of barns, the writing format styles are poetry, metered and free verse, short stories and essays.

Ribbons will be awarded to each entry: Blue, Red and Green. Additionally, rosettes will be awarded to first, second, and third place finishers in each class.

There are monetary rewards for the top two judged submittals in each of five age groups. The top award in adult (20 and older) and youth (14–19) classifications is $50; second Best of Show is $25. For Juniors, each of the following age groups — 11-13, 8–10, and 5–7 — will receive $25 for Best of Show and $15 for Second Best of Show. That works out to 10 total cash awards.
