The people who run Greenbank Farm for the Port of Coupeville have extended their fundraising drive deadline in an effort to raise $30,000.

The Greenbank Farm Management Group holds an “annual appeal” fund drive each year, and is hoping to double the amount raised, thanks to the generosity of donors willing to do a match of funds up to $15,000.

The group noted that this year, it has been successful in controlling costs. As a result, the money raised can be used for deferred maintenance and upgrades on the historic buildings, as well as operational costs.

Several such projects are under way, including new floors at the Jim Davis House, which is used as a meeting space by local organizations and clubs; additional storage areas for tenants; and fencing in the agricultural areas.

The original appeal letter was sent in early October, and now the deadline has been extended to Thursday, Dec. 31. The end-of-year push for the final dollars needed to turn $15,000 into $30,000 has resulted in some additional letters, cards and calls to potential supporters.

Donations can be made online at www.greenbankfarm.com or mailed to “Appeal,” Greenbank Farm, 765 Wonn Road, A-201 Greenbank, WA 98253.
