A volunteer group hosted by the Whidbey Watershed Stewards and the Port of South Whidbey will plant trees, grasses, shrubs and other landscaping at the Langley Marina’s Phil Simon Park on Saturday.

“It’s ‘Make a Difference Day’ and we hope people will come out to help at this new community gathering spot,” said Frederick Schram of the Whidbey Watershed Stewards.

The port is furnishing the plants and the stewards the labor.

“There will be shovels available, but bring one if you can, along with gloves, water and weather gear,” Schram added. “Everyone is invited, young people especially.”

The work party runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24 at the marina.
