High winds helped knock out power to more than 1,000 Puget Sound Energy customers early Monday.

The outage was reported north of Greenbank. Power went out just after 3 a.m. Feb. 7 and was restored at 4:30 a.m., said PSE spokeswoman Allison Stanford.

The blackout was caused by a tree that fell into power lines, Stanford said.

The National Weather Service in Seattle said a wind advisory would be in effect until 10 a.m. today for the eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Admiralty Inlet area.

Winds out of the west from 20 to 30 mph, with gusts near 45 mph, were expected on the west coast of Whidbey Island from Oak Harbor south to Admiralty Inlet.

Forecasters said the winds would weaken by late morning.
