Interviews set for port commissioner vacancy

The Port of South Whidbey will choose a new commissioner next week.

The Port of South Whidbey will choose a new commissioner next week.

In October, Ed Halloran resigned from the organization’s board of commissioners. Four candidates interested in filling the vacancy, which encompasses the Langley district, have stepped forward but recently, one has withdrawn from consideration.

Starting at 4 p.m. on Dec. 20, interviews will be conducted for the remaining three candidates, who are Greg Easton, Tim Callison and Stan Berryman. The fourth applicant, Wanda Grone, was named the city of Langley’s new finance director just last week and withdrew from being considered as a port commissioner.

The port’s special meeting to decide the new candidate will take place in the China City Restaurant Banquet Room at 1804 Scott Road in Freeland and also through Zoom. For additional information, contact Executive Director Stan Reeves at 360-331-5494 or execdir@portofsouthwhidbey.com.
