Due to staffing and supply chain related issues, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF) has been unable to provide intermodal shipping containers, which are used to ship solid waste by rail to the regional landfill, to Island County solid waste facilities. As a result, on April 28, 2022 Island County solid waste facilities could not ship solid waste to the landfill, exceeded storage capacities, and were temporarily closed.
On May 4, 2022, following receipt of containers, all Island County solid waste facilities will resume normal operations and open hours.
Normal Hours of Operation:
Coupeville Transfer Station – Daily, 9:30 am–5:00 pm
Bayview Drop Box and Recycle Park – Sun, Mon, Wed, and Sat, 9:30 am–5:00 pm
North Whidbey Drop Box and Recycle Park – Sun, Tues and Sat, 9:30 am–5:00 pm
Camano Transfer Station – Daily, 9:30am–5:00pm
We except to be busier than usual though the weekend. As a result, please expect that lines and delays may exist at all facilities.
Thank you for your patience as we resolve the supply chain issue.
