Island Dance team from Clinton wins awards at final meet | KUDOS

The Island Dance Competition Team ended its season with lots of flair at “Showstopper,” the final Northwest regional competition in May at the Tacoma Convention Center.

The Island Dance Competition Team ended its season with lots of flair at “Showstopper,” the final Northwest regional competition in May at the Tacoma Convention Center.

Taylor Phillipsborn earned exceptional level awards particularly since this is her first year back to dance after a hiatus and her first year of competition. Phillipsborn took a platinum award for her lyrical solo “Gift of a Friend,” choreographed by Jamee Pitts, the team’s artistic director.  She also earned third place overall in the teen division, which included every style of dance.

Kendall Marshall received a gold and fourth place overall in the junior division for her Jazz solo ”Cool Jerk,” while the Jazz trio “Surfin’ Safari,”  danced by Morgan Vandisson, Taylor Pitts and Kendall Marshall, received a gold and fifth place overall in the mini division.

Ari Abrahams, an Island Dance independent competition dancer, earned silver in the teen division for her tap solo “Let’s Get Loud.”
