Island Transit will continue its series of community meetings on emergency route modifications and suspensions today at the Freeland Library.

The meeting is from 4-7 p.m. Under discussion will be changes to bus routes 5, 7 and 8, and the elimination of Saturday service.

The changes are the result of financial problems at Island Transit. Agency Director Martha Rose recently disclosed that the agency didn’t have the money to pay $135,000 in bills.

Additional meetings will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 8 at the Langley Methodist Church, and from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the Freeland Library.

Changes to route 6 and the elimination of bus Saturday service will be discussed from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the Coupeville Recreation Hall.
