“Local musicians Jim Page and Timothy Hull present an evening of video and music at the Smilin’ Dog in Bayview this Friday, Jan. 21, beginning at 7:30 p.m. with a one-hour video called Showdown In Seattle: Five Days That Shook the WTO. The video has just been released by the Independent Media Center in Seattle and provides an overview of the World Trade organization as well as segments on labor, human rights, women and development, agriculture and environment, and the daily protests. The video is lively and colorful, Hull said, “full of footage from the streets and interviews with protest participants as well as acclaimed thinkers such as Michael Parenti, Vandana Shiva and Lech Walesa.” After the video Page and Hull will share the stage with their guitars and original songs. Page, a one-time island resident, has just returned from a tour of Ireland and is promoting his new CD Getting’ Squeezed. Hull is in the midst of promoting his new collection of songs called Brambleland. He is currently plotting out a tour of California set for March. “Jim and I have played together often over the years and I always look forward to every chance I get,” Hull said. He’s one of my favorite songwriters, and I love performing with him. Also, the addition of the WTO video is an added bonus to the evening. I’ve seen it and it’s not to be missed! The Smilin’ Dog only has limited seating, so it’s advised to come early. Coffee and desserts will be available. For more information visit Hull’s Web site www2.Whidbey.net/tinker which also includes several WTO links; or call 341-4601.”
