Langley council meeting short but sleepier type

“Langley Town Council met in regular session Tuesday but it was a brief meeting. This story is going to be even briefer. That’s because we fell asleep through part of it and they won’t tell us what happened and would not let us look at the minutes.

“While we were awake, the council passed a resolution okaying a delay of up to six years for Edgecliff Drive folks to hook up to the sewer. This, of course, is if the sewer project goes through. A lot of time was spent discussing whether it would or not and that’s when we started getting sleepy.”

German visitors inspect local

“More than 60 of Germany’s leading poultrymen visited South Whidbey Tuesday, here to take a look at the operation of the Long Brothers Poultry Farm and perhaps to pick up some ideas to take back home.

“All of the German visitors are holders of Heisdorf and Nelson Hatchery franchises and affiliated with Lohmann and Company which serves the franchise holders for H and N in Europe. H and N, which has its headquarters in Kirkland, has franchise holders throughout the world and arranged for the tour of Long Brothers Farm for the German visitors.

Kramers to mark 50th anniversary

“Friends and relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kramer are invited by their children to gather at the Deer Lagoon Grange Hall Sunday, from 2 to 5 p.m. to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary.

“The Kramers have lived on the island since 1934, [and] were married June 18, 1914, at Butte, Mont.”
