Kayaker rescued from Saratoga Passage

South Whidbey Fire/EMS rescued a kayaker from Saratoga Passage Sunday morning. According to Wendy Moffatt, a division chief at the district, a kayaker was found floating in the water off Bells Beach at about 9 a.m. Off-duty firefighters that happened to be in the area at the time pulled the man to shore. He was not breathing.

According to Wendy Moffatt, a division chief at the district, a kayaker was found floating in the water off Bells Beach at about 9 a.m. Off-duty firefighters that happened to be in the area at the time pulled the man to shore. He was not breathing.

They performed CPR and the man regained consciousness; he had a pulse and was breathing when he was airlifted to an unknown hospital from South Whidbey High School, Moffatt said. She did not know his status when contacted Tuesday morning.

Moffatt estimated the man to be about 60 years old.
