More than $26,000 was distributed to Whidbey charities on Sept. 21 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeland.

Good Cheer Food Bank received $9,032; Gifts from the Heart Food Bank in Greenbank, $6,500; Helping Hand of South Whidbey, $3,932; and Friends of Friends Medical Support, $1,120.

An additional $4,765 was given to Lutheran Community Services for Oso disaster relief, and $1,000 to the Lutheran Compass Center in Seattle for work with the homeless.
