Beginning on Monday, Langley City Hall will be open for business five days a week, Mayor Tim Callison announced.

City Hall has for years been closed on Fridays, giving the public just four days to accomplish business with the city, such as paying utility bills.

Improved economic conditions and increased staffing levels made it possible to open City Hall on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Callison said. Hours may be extended beyond 1 p.m. depending on need.

While on the campaign trail last year, Callison said transitioning City Hall to a five-day work week was on of the things he’d like to accomplish if elected.
