Langley’s new Ethics Training and Advisory Board needs people to prepare the city’s employees.
The board handles ethics orientation for elected officials, employees and consultants. It also may advise the city based on its code of ethics, a document created over the course of 2013 and approved earlier this year by the Langley City Council. Complaints may be reviewed by the ethics board, which would in turn make a recommendation to the mayor or council.
The positions carry three-year terms. Volunteer candidates must be a resident of Langley or South Island County and are subject to a background check that will exclude anyone with a prior felony conviction, a registered sex offense, crimes of “moral turpitude,” court-ordered supervision for any crime, a misdemeanor within the previous five years, and other exclusions.
