The Langley Library will be closed for 17 days starting Saturday, Aug. 20 for a renovation project that includes a new paint job, carpet removal and the replacement of several existing built-in furniture units.

The library will reopen at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Sno-Isle Libraries said the project was made possible by Jacqueline Little Bund, who left a generous bequest to the library system, combined with support of the Friends of the Langley Library, the city of Langley and Sno-Isle Libraries.

Sno-Isle spokesman Ken Harvey said the library was last remodeled in 1994, and in the years since, library services have evolved and expanded to the point that the current furnishings are too outdated for current users.

Planned changes include remodeling the check-out desk, expanding the book drop, and opening up the entry space by relocating and replacing front entry furniture.

Library customers should note that WiFi service will be unavailable at the branch during the closure and all library materials should be returned to the Freeland Library or the Clinton Library.

All incoming holds for Langley patrons will be sent to the Freeland Library during the closure period.

The Langley Library book group meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, will be held at the South Whidbey Commons at on 124 Second St.
