Langley Middle School principal Suzi Mach is on administrative leave, according to school officials, after submitting a letter of resignation on Thursday and then rescinding it.
“It’s an on-going personnel issue, so we can’t have any conversation about anything,” said Assistant Superintendent Dan Poolman.
Superintendent Jo Moccia will take over Mach’s duties as principal of the middle school. She alerted middle school parents of Mach’s resignation and the transition in an email Thursday at about noon.
“Today I accepted the resignation of Suzi Mach, LMS Principal,” Moccia wrote. “As you may know she came to us from Bremerton where her family still resides. Suzi stated in her resignation that her living situation has caused a hardship on her family and she was unable to give our district her all.”
A request for Mach’s resignation letter was not immediately fulfilled; the paper was asked instead to submit a formal, written public records request and the document was not supplied by press time Friday.
In her email to parents, Moccia said her role as interim principal would continue until at least spring the district will recruit for a new and permanent replacement.
“Please be assured that your children and our district will continue to be well served by our dedicated teachers and staff,” Moccia wrote.
