Businesses in Langley are being sought to conduct a month-long survey of customers in a pilot project.
Carolyn Tamler briefly presented the idea, one she has worked on for at least a few months with Mayor Fred McCarthy, to gather customer data to better target advertising.
“It’s invaluable for a business person to know where their customers come from,” Tamler said at Monday’s city council meeting.
Tamler hoped to have 40 businesses in Langley participate in the pilot survey that asks customers for their zip code, the length of their stay in the city and what brought them to the store, among other questions. The bright yellow cards can be placed in plastic holders purchased by the city and left on a register counter. She said she already had 26 businesses signed up to participate.
The surveys will be out mid-April until mid-May.
