LMS music student receives honor

Outstanding seventh- and eighth- grade music students from across Washington Have received top honors by being selected to participate in the annual Washington Music Educators Association Junior All-State bands, choirs and orchestra.

Outstanding seventh- and eighth- grade music students from across Washington Have received top honors by being selected to participate in the annual Washington Music Educators Association Junior All-State bands, choirs and orchestra.

Langley Middle School trumpet player Maddy Jerome was selected through an audition sponsored by the association. She will join more than 375 other outstanding young performers at the gala event.

The chosen WMEA Junior All-State groups will meet Feb. 13 for a rehearsal under the direction of outstanding music educators and present a final concert later that afternoon.

Well-known Washingtonians who have participated in past years of the WMEA All-State groups include the Seattle Post-Intelligencer’s Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist and columnist David Horsey, 2008 National Teacher of the Year Andrea Peterson and jazz saxophonist Kenny G.
