Langley Middle School students Lennox Bishop, Max Corell and Tristan Struthers received Gold Key Awards from the National Scholastic Art and Writing Award Program for writing late last month.

The seventh-graders participated in the school’s after-school writing club facilitated by Sarri Gilman. The trio each submitted personal essays or memoirs to the writing contest, which is the largest art and writing contest in the country.

More than 5,000 works in the writing category were submitted but only 1,000 students in the country received Gold Key awards for writing.
